Went to Pathodawgyi Pagoda while visiting the village of Mingun. The ruins of the unfinished Pagoda are very impressive and it was very interesting to hear the history of the Pagoda. Would recommend a visit.
Having been to pagodas in Mandalay and Yangon sheet we were hassled and rushed. This was a laid back experience and although there was lots of shopping there was no one pushing you. A lovely pagoda ,well worth a visit
The Mingun Pagoda should have been the world's biggest Pagoda if it was ever finished. Unfortunately, due to wrong engineering and frequent earthquakes it wasn't finished.

Pagoda, together with destroyed lions, is one more proof of delusions of grandeur of those who have power. Never finished but still showing the mastery of the engineers and construction workers several hundred years ago.
