A huge pagoda with an interesting history. It’s supposed to be the biggest pagoda in the world, but have never finished. The earthquake made a huge damage but it’s still worth a visit.

It's difficult not to reflect upon the folly of man's ambition when you see this place. The pagoda was never finished (for a variety of reasons), but it would have been utterly massive if it had been. Today it's a very impressive, very large pile...More

Went to Pathodawgyi Pagoda while visiting the village of Mingun. The ruins of the unfinished Pagoda are very impressive and it was very interesting to hear the history of the Pagoda. Would recommend a visit.

Having been to pagodas in Mandalay and Yangon sheet we were hassled and rushed. This was a laid back experience and although there was lots of shopping there was no one pushing you. A lovely pagoda ,well worth a visit

This is absolutely a hidden gem that many people didn’t know. It was 1 KM from the famous white pagoda in Mingun. It was a huge and different with other temples which become its uniqueness :)

The Mingun Pagoda should have been the world's biggest Pagoda if it was ever finished. Unfortunately, due to wrong engineering and frequent earthquakes it wasn't finished. However, it's a great site to visit. You spot it from the middle of Irrawadi river when crossing it...More

Pagoda, together with destroyed lions, is one more proof of delusions of grandeur of those who have power. Never finished but still showing the mastery of the engineers and construction workers several hundred years ago.

Very bad shape. No maintenance. Unsafe to go up the hill due to lack of repair. First major temple along the route. Better to have a guide due to rich history.
