Although the name 'Jumping Cat Monastery' sounds interesting - it's not really. Fortunately the monks no longer train the cats to jump. Thankfully. There were only a few cats, not too mangy looking and friendly - kittens really. They looked well fed and friendly but...More

This place was actually recommended by the hotel receptionist as well as the ferry man that bring us. We see the map that since it is along the way back towards the town, we are fine to visit this place. When we reached this place,...More

A nice enough monastery and shrine, but to be honest I was all templed out by this one. But I did see cats, although I was not told it was a "jumping cats" site!

It was part of our guided tour of Inle lake hence visited, although I didn't really want to. There are no jumping cats anymore, hardly any cats actually. But nearby are hydroponic farms... which are nice to see..

Forget about jumping cats, saw a few indifferent cats who couldn't be bothered with visitors. Nothing special about the monastery but the redeeming part is the central hall of beautiful Buddhist statues.

This monistary is about 80 years old and sits on a raised piece of land in the middle of the lake. The Buddha is constructed very differentially but will let you discover this on your visit. An interesting added activitie whole on the lake.

This monastery is popularly known as the jumping cats monastery, but that is based on a story from long ago. The interior is quite dark. However, if you take a flash photo of any of the statues it will spring to life and be transformed....More
