On my visit it was packed out with people which made walking on the bridge very dangerous and made you watch your footing rather than the views around. I opted to stand on the river bank and get my sunset photos. Because there were a lot of people it made leaving particularly slow and tedious. Would recomend going when its... More

We took a boat out on the river at sunset, it was just stunning. We were very fortunate that it was a perfect sunset. Many other boats also, but plenty of room for everyone, A MUST DO activity. Some boats were serving wine too!

Most of the bridge is not over water. Yes it is made of wood and old. you are mostly pestered by vendors and I found the view not to be so special. As we started the day early, we went at about 9am. not too many people. we returned later for the sunset. It was hard to find a parking... More

The longest teak bridge in the world at 1.2 KLM's long is wonderfully fascinating.Try and walk part way across-I say try ,because there is hundreds of local people all use it,but I recommend hiring one of the little boats and you will be rowed out and under it to get a special view-make sure you have your camera as the... The bridge is 1.2 Km long, entirely build by wood. I read somewhere that apparently is the longest bridge in the world, of this type, but I haven't verified whether the information is accurate or not. I can only tell that is amazing and my entire trip to Myanmar would have been worth it just because of it. We arrived... More

We would have liked to see U Bein Bridge at sunset, having seen so many beautiful photos, but so much to see and do meant we visited only once in the morning. Allow plenty of time, so much to see with the fishermen casting nets and just sitting and watching the traffic pass on the bridge. An easy walk, if... More

This is a beautiful location but it was so busy it was hard to get to around sunset. I am told it is equally as nice at sunrise and easier to access at that time. When I go to Mandalay next maybe I will get there for the sunrise instead.

The U Bein Bridge is the world's longest teak bridge, stretching right across Lake Taugthaman. e gondola style ride across the lake is romantic at sun up or sunset (bring mozzie repellent) and the local stand in the lake fishermen will often show you their catch as you past by. The island restaurant and picnic area halfway across is very... More

This curious structure is a (mostly) wooden bridge spanning 1.2km across the Taungthaman Lake at Amarapura. Billed as the world's longest teak bridge, it is remarkable as thousands cross to and from each day on its venerable planking. The light at sunset is wonderful but dawn may be a better option as there are smaller crowds. Better still go twice...... More
