Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Boat ride in the lake to reach great restaurant. Please see my review on Cabral restaurant. You can get the boat ride in the pier in Rio Vermelho park in the lake boat terminal.

Costa da Lagoa is essentially a cluster of restaurants and bars with a few small tourist shops overlooking the lagoon and accessible only by boat (from several locations) or by trekking. Its a fun place for an extended lunch/afternoon of lingering. The restaurants vary from nice (but not super upscale) to basic. Prices may be a little higher than elsewhere but not excessive. You can stroll the path at the back that links the various establishments, or even swim from the small beaches in front of several of the places.

Take the boat from the bridge in Lagoa. The price is 10 per trip and person and takes about 45 minutes with 23 stops possible. From stop 14 on there are plenty of nice restaurants mostly serving fish.

This is a place to go only by boat to rest, relax and enjoy the view. It is a lovely sight seeing tour by a small typical boat. Cheap tour. It will take you to a place with some native seafood restaurants. There you will try the typical seafood from the region. This is the only spot where tourists and locals go together. It seems that time stopped there. I recommend it in a sunshine day.!!

Costa da Lagoa has a lot of nature. Try to go by boat or by foot, and try to have the experience of bath and to eat in a good restaurant some fresh fish.

You can only reach the Coast Da Lagoon by boat, crossing the famous Lagoa da Conceição, or a long and beautiful walk in the middle of an Atlantic forest, which is almost omnipresent around the Lagoa. The boats depart from Lagoa da Conceição or the road that connects Barra da Lagoa to the Rio Vermelho, in both cases it is generally a calm, quiet and pleasant trip. On the Costa da Lagoa, you will find good local cuisine, with lots of seafood and lots of frying, as is common in most of the Brazilian coast, bet on shrimp. There are also beautiful waterfalls with chilled water and very relaxing natural pools, right in the middle of a lush Atlantic forest. The locals are generally friendly, and mostly, do not drink before going to the waterfalls and pools, are very dangerous places.

Get a boat and spend the day. Here you can eat fresh seafood, talk to nice people and admire exuberant nature. At Cabral Restaurant, try Carapeva bait, right from the lagoon. Diving next to the "castle" is really nice. There's also a water fall to refresh after a long walk. Enjoy!

This trail is considered historical of the Brazilian Colonial Period because it keeps its original features like the paving stones, fishing sites, old mansions, Atlantic forest, amazing cliff with wonderful view of the lagoon (Lagoa da Conceição). The whole path is about 2 hours long, long-distance walking on steep slopes, 7230 meters of extension and its all demarcated with signs along. Just watch your step and be careful with the slippery rocks in the waterfall. Near the small waterfall there are many sea food restaurants which owners are the fishermen and their families. Prepare your camera to take wonderful pictures, and bring: a backpack with water, snack, sunblock, sunglasses, repellent, cap, swimsuit, comfortable trecking shoes. Good adventure!

If you want to visit a place where the time goes slower, go to Costa da Lagoa. Talk to manezinhos (local inhabitants), try a carapeva bait (delicious fish) and use the peculiar transportation to cross the lagoon. I recomend Cabral restaurant with its green roof.

If you are looking for a genuine experience with local culture and gastronomy, this is it! Only two ways to reach this fisherman community, trail or boat. The trail is through Atlantic forest, full of surprises and fairly easy. I recommend to go by trail, eat at Lagoa Azul restaurant on pier 17 which is about two hours down the trail and come back by boat to the main square at Lagoa. It is going to be a wonderful guaranteed day!
