Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

"The street to be seen on" is Padre Chagas. Full of great restaurants and expensive shops, it's the place to strut your stuff. We lived a few blocks from Padre Chagas and walked there often for leisurely Sunday afternoons, Friday or Saturday night dinner, parties etc. We felt safe in the area, and always enjoyed ourselves when on Padre Chagas. We are not in the "upper class" but managed just fine nonetheless. Great for "people watching" from one of the outdoor patios, especially those on the second floor overlooking this busy street. Pretty at Christmastime with lights strung across the street.

Padre Chagas is the Miami's Lincoln Road of Porto Alegre. If you are looking for a place to discover the nightlife culture, the high fashion, and the hip crowd of Porto Alegre, this is the place to be. There are several shops, bars, and restaurants and some of the best restaurants in Porto Alegre are located in this area. Parking here is very difficult, so you can always opt for a taxi or Uber.

The "Padre Chagas" street continue to be very popular among the locals in the city of "Porto Alegre", capital of the Brazilian Southern state "Rio Grande do Sul".

The area is popular because in around 3 blocks and 2 or 3 transversal streets concentrates a huge number of very charming cafes, restaurants, bars, as well as alternative little shops for souvenirs, clothing, shoes, wine, tea and so on.

So it is very agreeable just to walk along "Padre Chagas" street and stop by for example the little "Cafe do Porto" for a coffee and a good pastry or to go later for a happy hour with friends to the Dado Beer.

Its a good program for getting to know how locals spend their afternoons or nights.

This is the trendiest street in Porto Alegre's night, the place to be and to be seen, to walk up and down, go to a pub, have lunch or diner, drink and meet beautiful people. Sixty years ago, this neighbourhood was the finest place to live in town. Now, many old houses have been converted into pubs, bars, shops and restaurants.

Padre Chagas is located in the heart of Moinhos de Vento, one of the most expensive neighbourhoods in the city. It is undoubtely inviting fot it's cafes and small shops, good for a stroll, but honestly it is all there is. The places are most definitely overpriced and you can find all that for a most reasonable price in other areas of the city- and also with better service. I don't think it does show the local culture of Porto Alegre in the best way, since it is such a secluded midde and upper class area. It is worth a visit, but I would definitely recommend other places in the city for eating/shopping/ walking around.

The street with so many places to eat & drink. This street also turns into a party place on weekend nights. The walk in this street was always a nice change from hotel room.

Luxury stores, countless dining options and bars. This is the street for people watching as the young and beautiful flock there.

To the extent Porto Alegre has a facsimile of Sao Paulo's Rua Oscar Freyre or, let's say, Rodeo Drive, this is it. Upscale commerce, bars, restaurants, etc. in the city's leafiest neighborhood. It's short -- only 3-4 blocks long -- but a nice way to spend a lazy afternoon people-watching and having a little something to eat or drink. If you're expecting the Bund or Ginza or Shinjuku or Shibuya, you'll be disappointed at how small and comparatively modest it is, but it's still as good -- at least in a commercial sense -- as Porto Alegre gets.
