Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

As a person who has traveled to Hawaii, all over the Caribbean, I was not expecting the reef to be healthy. Maracajau divers are doing a great job to keep it vibrant!! Check the tide calendar as some trips are very early in the AM..6am!!

Snorkeling in Maracajú is just fantastic. The water is transparent, there are many fish and coral. You can also go scuba diving. It's totally worth it, even in a cloudy day!

The place looks like a paradise, however the weather conditions in the day of our visit did not allow the best view under the water, it was too windy and the sea was not calm.

Visited there in a rainy, medium tide day and saw almost nothing! No fishes, almost no view of reef.
Wasted money and no refund!

On the positive side the beach here is beautiful and there is a lot of coral. On the negative side, this us supposed to be a protected marine park but the environmental impact is obvious. Very large groups of snorkelers, people standing on the coral. Noisy with photographers contante trying to take and sell photos, guides with whistles etc. There is still some marine life there to see but the chances of seeing anything with the large groups is slim.

A boat ride to the near by reef is worth the effort if you are out for some snorkelling or diving. The beaches in the area are nice.

Departure time is 7 a.m. Once the boats are gone you have nothing to do except kite surfing until next day. The neighborhood it's extremely poor and the beach is dangerous. So , if you don't look for snorkeling, it's better to come back to Genipabu.

It is a good snorkel trip. I have done other snorkel trips, and confess that this was not my favourite, but still, it is a great passeio if you have never done anything like that. Because people tend to walk on the sand instead of just floating, the water can get sandy and lower the visibility. I had to swim around a little to get around the others doing that, and was able to find a beautiful area where the water was clear and fish were terrific. I spent 2 hours in the water and enjoyed it. Most people walk around a bit and go back to the boat to have a drink and get sun-tanned. If you are into really snorkelling and enjoying the fish, be patient and you will have less people around for sure.

Tour operator (Marazul) and driver were good. The restaurant in Maracajau was OK, the food was basic and overpriced, but at a pleasant place.
