An Inland Water Body Behind Ipanema Beach
Nov. 2019
One assumes this place is Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas, the large inland lake at the back of Ipanema Beach. Some refer to it as a restaurant but it is the water area that has a water source from the Atlantic via a canal and from various rivers and streams. With the backdrop of various granite mountains it is a pretty place and one that you wioll pass by if you travel this part of Rio

This is definately one of the best venues for enjoying a good meal, on a nice balcony and enjoy the sun set over the lagoon...excellent!

Nice views and food

Very nice views of the lagoon if you sit at the balcony, but at summer time there is no air conditioning, service is very bad but at the balcony you can order plates from all inside restaurants. Very nice sealed tuna.

Great food, breathtaking views of Lagoa

We ate at San Remo on the outside section of the dining areas. There are four restaurants that share the outside area, and you can choose from from any of them. We ate from the San Remo portion of the menu. If you like ceviche, the salmon ceviche is like no other! Lots of cilantro gives the sauce a fresh and earthy taste. The fraldinha was juicy, yet not fully flavorful, but the white lemon rice was light and refreshing. The risotto was delicious.

The area can be a little loud, so if you want a quieter experience, go to the indoor section of the restaurants. This is a great place for lunch or dinner! We were there when it was sunny, but a huge downpour came after. The outside area was immediately covered and the ambiance was kept in tact.

Fantastic scenery, fine foods, high price

The concept of this place is interesting: there is a parking lot for cars (paid), 6 movie theaters, kid playgrounds and several restaurants. The first floor there is a Japanese food restaurant and a bar with Portuguese foods, in the second floor there is a conglomerate of restaurants that serve pizza, Japanese foods, pastas, barbecue etc, in a joint and shared varanda that you can order food from the restaurant Pax, Quadrifoglio, Gula Gula, San Remo, Sushi Lagoa, and Giuseppe. The view and the scenery are spectacular: with Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas (with the floating Christmas tree during December), and mountains of the Rio de Janeiro surrounding the restaurant. After all, you can have ice-cream in the Sorvete Brasil. Good service, some interesting dishes (with salads and seafoods), very crowded, quite overpriced. It is a nice place to go, indeed.

Beautiful

This is just a few blocks away from Ipanema beach, and a little further from Copacabana. This is such a beautiful part of Rio. There is a great walkway around the lagoon, which joggers, cyclists and pedestrians make the most of. You can see Christ from most of the walkway. It's a lovely peaceful part of Rio - well worth spending an hour or two strolling around.
