With the extension of 7.5 km, the Lagoon is the prefect spot for jogging and biking. Also to relax and make picnics with friends and family. Recently they increased the policing and nocturnal illumination.

Rio is know by its beaches, but Lagoa is a great spot to see how life in Rio really is. Around its margins you will see how people is active here, there are lots of great kiosks and the sunset from Palaphita is great. Hire a bike or go for a walk, its worthy!

It's a lake. A very nice lake by many mountains, but it's a lake. The traffic around the lake when I passed by was very heavy, so I really didn't spend time at the lake as a result.

It's nice to have the lake in the middle of the city, though it does mean it has busy roads near it for some of the circuit. We hired bikes and cycled round it. It was a holiday so was super busy with bikes, walkers, runners etc. Still enjoyed it though. Saw various birds. Had lunch at the Arab restaurant,... More

Yes, This is a Lagoon because it has a strong channel allowing the sea water to come in and out. Yes it has salt water. It's dirty, even looking clear. So, do not come inside. But it's beautiful and is settled just among the Ipanema beach, The Botanic Garden neighborhood and so far the best places in city. Keep in... More

Large lake & areas of attractive shoreline. Attraction is somewhat diminished by noisy busy roads on all sides

We ended up walking the 7k around the lake as bikes were all taken. During the day there were no bars or restaurants open, only occasional cold drink barrows. Helicopter tours available. Some shade.

Beautiful place to Run in the afternoon. I just love this place, also you can rent pedalinhos to do a tour inside of the lagoon. At night there are a lot of quiosques to have something to eat, in a unique atmosphere. I really recommend this place.
