Primarily a recreation area for Cariocas, the 5-mile pathway circling the lake is popular for walkers, skaters, and cyclists. In the evening there may be live music, and kiosks serving drinks and food.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I was actually disappointed by this place but maybe it was the day I walked around? It was sunny but not very busy. The entire place was kinda abandoned I guess but its still really beautiful. I guess if your gonna run or bike etc, this is a good spot because you have a beautiful view of the Lagoon and the area of the South of the city.

I got to see the Botafogo training club on the lake. It was cool!

Another place that awakens the desire to live in Rio de Janeiro. Beautiful... those who live nearby are very privileged. The view is beautiful. I suggest renting one of the bikes available from Itaú (easy via the app) and riding around the lagoon. My wife and I went on a weekday and the weather was cloudy. I imagine the beauty of Lagoa com Sol. Because the weather was closed, there were few people and yet we felt very safe. We did not see any movement that caught our attention regarding security. There are also bars/restaurants at certain points. The length of the lagoon is kilometers enough to go around completely.

Without a doubt one of the most beautiful spots in Rio de Janeiro. The tracks that surround the lagoon allow you to create postcards at each stop. Not to mention the gastronomic options available in the surrounding area. Going to Rio de Janeiro and not visiting Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas is not knowing the city.

The Lagoa as it is known in Rio is great to cycle around - we hired bicycles from our hotel in Ipanema. There is a bicycle path all around the lagoon and it is an easygoing flat 7km tour. We enjoyed a great lunch as well at restaurant Gratini near the finish point of the Olympic rowing course which is still there.

The Brasilian part of our large international family has lived in Brasil (Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro) since about 1900.

Our grand- grand- father came originally from Wilhelmshaven, his daughters and sons emigrated to all over the world (North and South America, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and Europa (Germany, Switzerland, France, Spain, Italy, ...).

All our families meet once a year in one of these countries. We love Brasil, and we enjoy to visit Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo.

Of course, the young people in our international families enjoy the beaches in Rio (Copacabana, Ipanema, Leblon); and the parents enjoy the nature in Brasil.

The lake RODRIGO de FREITAS is one of our favorite places to enjoy the phantastic Brasilian nature!

Recommendation: take with a good digital photo/ video camera to make photos and films of your visitors. They will enjoy remember their visit to the lake RODRIGO de FREITAS by watching the photos and films of their visit in Brasil.

This beautiful venue is a masterpiece of nature, just facing corcovado cliff
And the Christ. However, I advise to take care these times! Too many people
Strolling, many without any epidemic protections. I think it os a dangerous place to go in times of pandemics.

The lake soits behind Ipanema Beach and is fed by various rivers and creeks as well as a canl to the Atlantic Ocean. It has a walking path but most visitirs will see it as the drive by to either of the airports. It can look pleasant enhanced by the rock formations around Rio.

Walking around Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas when the sun is coming down is an outstanding experience. Drink a coconut water and enjoy the view.

You can rent a family bike to do the tour around the lake and it took us 50 minutes with some stops for photos. Check the bike before you start to make sure the tires are pumped up and the bike actually works and they just enjoy the ride with your kids! Two children can fit in the front of the bike. You get some nice views of the like and the christ in the background!

I go walking round the lake every weekend enjoying the beauty of the place and the fantastic views of the mountains. Some great little restaurants in the area and a commercial centre with a cinema. Lots of locals come here to walk and exercise. It’s a paradise place and a must visit if you come to Rio. Walking distance from Ipanema and Leblon.
