Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This traditional neighborhood in the city was once one of the most sophisticated in town. Currently impovireshed, basically residential, it lost much of its aura after the refurbishing and building of aterro do flamengo in the 1950's. Still some traditional sites to visit, such as Julieta Serpa house.

Flamengo streets are cool for walking around, some shopping, and good food. There is a good Devassa bar there and you should go but when you cross the street (wiiiiiiiiiide avenue) to go the beach area you realize a few things: view is amazing but pee smell baaad. It is somewhat clean during the week but expect to find some homeless suspicious dudes and dudesses strolling around. Also, DONT SWIM IN THERE.

Flamengo is a seaside district in Rio. The Flamengo beach is decent, quiet and more peaceful than the popular destinations. There is a nice park (Aterro de Flamengo) that offers good outdoor activities & a nice jogging track. Worth a visit.

I stayed 6 days at praia de flamengo area in a small studio. Ideally located to explore Rio 2 metro stations bus stops and plenty of taxis pass by all the time. Copacabana is 15 mins and Lapa and centro as as well 15 mins away so you can say you will stay in the middle of the action. The area is very safe as well. Will be back there on my next trip

A far cry from the popular, though god knows why, Copacabana and Ipanema districts. I live in Flamengo and appreciate it's history, it's mix of old and new, though thankfully there is a lot more old than new. Few tourists visit Flamengo, it is not really on the tourist map but here you can walk about in freedom with no thoughts of being robbed and if you want to risk your life and wealth, you can take the metro to Copacabana and Ipanema. Flamengo is the best district in Rio!

The park is beautiful and very well maintained. You are STRONGLY advised to avoid it without sun light!

The Flamengo district is another nice beachside area in Rio. North of Copacabana, it is home to the Aterro do Flamengo park as well as the Flamengo beach.

Relatively quiet and safe, it s residential with some commercial parts as well. The beach offers excellent vies of Sugar Loaf mountain as well as Morro da Urca. Recommended!

Only the beachfront avenue, where you can catch a glimpse of decent early 20th century architecture. The streets and avenues in the middle are best avoided, unless you're looking for a specific place of restaurant. Wait for big improvements though, as major events such as the World Cup and Olympics approach.

beautiful walks along the sea or through the reclaimed land which forms the park . take a massage in the shade, hire a bicycle and use the cycle track, jog , or simply stroll. Don´t think of swimming however as the water is too polluted. Newly installed shower/toilet facilities have helped

I was at sunny sunday for a tour around the wonderful moderm landmark, O Parque do flamengo. My day went throught the night, we find sweets to taste around & surprizingly a ragtime concert & free jazz djs sessions without spending a dime.

I would definitely live there a while. Actually even I should have stayed longer there on my last stay. Just as you can get there in the Flamengo neighborhood quickly, you can also leave it. A variety of bus and metro pass through there, you can walk to foot naturally for kilometers without feeling exhausted, inclaustro in the urban environment, which gives you a false feeling of closeness.
