Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I don't recommend going to the Maracanã without attending a game, since it is a somewhat expensive tour, in an ugly and dangerous area of Rio, and the stadium did not seem as impressive as I imagined. What I do recommend is to live the experience of going to a soccer game at the Maracaná, things change there. You can book through this same page (the operator is gray tour), the tickets cost over 100 usd but they will pick you up, take you to the game with a guide and you can live the experience that is worth it if you like soccer. But the Maracaná, empty, is not worth it

I couldn't have had a more biased experience the two times I've been. First was for the opening ceremonies of the 2016 Summer Olympics and then a little later for the gold medal final mens football (soccer) match where Brasil defeated Germany, the team they had lost the World Cup to two years earlier.
So you won't see anything quite so powerful but every event in this temple of sport is an emotion charged adventure

I visited Maracana Stadium as part of a tour that includes other tourist sites in the city of Rio, but only the external part is observed as it does not include the internal part. I think this is done to make a tourism proposal of longer duration, and therefore higher price. For football fans, I recommend taking a tour that enters the stadium to better appreciate the greatness of it.

My husband and our 12-year old son visited the stadium as a paid experience purchased elsewhere on the internet. They attended a very important local football match with a local (Bruno) and they enjoyed it immensely. For any football/soccer fans, attending a game in Maracana is a must, just make sure that you go there with someone knowledgeable..

We initially did the tour of the stadium with the gate for this being conveniently located at the bottom of the ramp of the station. The tour itself was ok, probably 4 out of 5 stars. It is a self guided tour which has pros and cons. You could take things at your own pace but on the flip side there is a lot of reading to do. We wanted to buy tickets for the match the same week but annoyingly the ticket office is located all the way round the other side of the stadium. We managed to get two tickets at a reasonable price without too much fuss, although you will need ID to purchase if a foreign visitor. The match itself was a great experience, being right in the middle of the passionate fans. We left the game a few minutes early to catch the train back to Ipanema which was easy. Would recommend to any football enthusiast.

On a recent visit to Rio with my son, managed to get tickets for the semi finals of the Carioca Cup! The Brazilians really know how to support their teams!! The atmosphere was electric, fans very entertaining, chanting, singing and mostly on their feet during the match. They were changing roles btw fans, referees, cheerleaders, VAR analysts etc. I really enjoyed the match (1st time to watch any football match) even though it was poring with rain. The Stadium is massive from what I saw on the day!

I went to see a Flamengo vs Vasco da Gama match. I bought the tickets at the box office, the same day of the game, at 12 noon, the game was at 7 p.m. Ticket office No. 2, you have to pay in cash, bring your identification card and go in person. For 120 Reales I was behind the reservation bench, a quiet place for tourists. It was a fantastic and very safe experience. I arrived and returned by subway.

Legendary stadium is one of the most famous soccer/futbol venues in the world. Built for the 1950 World Cup and totally renovated for the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Summer Olympics. Has also hosted 3 Papal appearances and several major concerts. Has had as many as 200,000 attendees for some events. We stopped for a quick photo stop and drove around the perimeter in the rain. If you have time, some tour operators offer VIP tours of the stadium and have tickets for some matches by the major Rio pro soccer clubs.

The guide tour was great, the young lady who gave the presentation shared some great history on the Stadium and some insight on the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. The displays and tribute to "Pele" was outstanding. We even got a chance to go out to the stadium and tour the field.

Fantastic one in a lifetime experience, with an excellent and interesting museum. The staff was very helpful. the only minus was that it was a pity that, offering for a price the opportunity to kick a penalty in the pitch with a goalkeeper provided, it's only about a penalty kicked in a smaller goal just outside the rectangular, what a pity.
