Beautiful beach and safe for walking during the day. Much quieter than Copa Cabana beach. Many people walking and running everyday.

surely less expensive than copa but still a tourist trap. aoid the first row restaurants and you will find great bargains, otherwise sip your caipi in one of the beach bars for 15 reals

We rented bikes and cruised along Ipanema. The beach was alive with musicians, entertainers, tourists, and locals. There is a great walking, biking, and jogging path which stretched for the entire beach (multiple miles). Great atmosphere to take in the sights and sounds of Rio.

We walked to Ipanema from our Hotel on Copacabana, it took about 30 minutes at a leisurely stroll, it was hot. It is a lovely beach , but not as nice l think as Copacabana, it is smaller and not so well serviced, yes it is made famous by the song and is a little more quirky than Copacabana. From... More

Check the weather forecast. November can be a tricky month in Rio. Despite the poor weather it is a good month to visit Rio off-season. Not too crowded. Amazing food, great places, wonderful people. Stay in Ipanema more than Copacabana. Uber is very cheap and effective.

The Ipanema beach is an extention of Copacabana beach. So, the view is the same. But one thing that is very beautiful is the beginning of the IPanema. there is a small beach with stones that go through the stones called Arpoador. A very special spot in the city where the sunset is celebrated everyday.

I visited here in mid-November. The beach is beautiful and less crowded than nearby Copacabana. The views are amazing and there's lots of surfers on the big waves. The beach bars are good too - friendly and helpful. I'd definitely go back.
