This is quite a large garden so be prepared for a lot of walking. Its also very hot in Rio so it will be tiring. Their Japanese Garden isn't as good as some but they have a very nice little cafe/restaurant. Not the easiest place to get to by bus but I believe the underground goes there.

Inside the gardens there are lots of birds and you can see monkeys jumping between trees etc. They were beautiful and so interesting to watch! For an... More

I will recommend to go walk or bike around Rodrigo de Freitas Lake and then visit the Botanical Garden. Two or three hours will be enough to check out this pace

This is a great activity that can be done with or without a guide. I have done both. It is nice to explore at your own leisure and can easily make a half-day event of it. However, it's also nice to have guided tour so you can get comprehensive understanding of such an amazing and historic location. Combine your visit... More

If you want to scape from the urban view of Rio, this is the place to go. Its great for a wall in the forest, watching local flora and orchids. You will definitely get out relaxed after a walk there. The entrance fee is R$ 15 and its totally worth it.
