... and you'll avoid the crowds. Otherwise, take a bottle of water and queue for the two cable cars with a smile. There's a great restaurant halfway up. Unmissable

This was a cool atraction. You ride up in 2 cable cars to get to top. Once there, you have a large area to walk around and view the city. There are restaurants and various other eating places. Expect to be there a while due to the large number of tourists there.

The queues to get into the cable car at the bottom are very long and then you need to queue half way up again for the second cable car. The views across the beach are great though

Similarly to Corcovado, its a place of interest of almost every tourist so its crowded, but still worth it. The view is spectacular and different from Corcovado. Also on the very top,we did some souvenier shopping and had a snack in the snackbar next to it.

Every time I have been to Rio with friends or family, I have been up both the Corcovado and the Pão de Açucar, and I would recommend that you do the same. The overall view is better from the Corcovado, but the park on Sugarloaf is a unique place, and I love it.

It was a fun ride up to Sugarloaf and once there the view is breathtaking! We were very lucky that the day we went crowds were minimal and we did not wait long to get up or down from the mountain. But I understand that was unusual so if going on your own allow time for the lines.

Great impressive views over Rio de Janeiro. Easy to reach by cable car. Nice botanical garden with monkeys (if you don't frighten them away!).

Took a guided tour arranged by the hotel and we went up the Sugarloaf mountain. You get an excellent view over Rio de Janeiro and the different beaches. There are restaurants up there but they're very pricy. Bring water and perhaps a snack if you plan to stay for a while.

Staying in Urca

Neighbourhood Profile
Urca
Urca is one of the oldest areas in Rio. Known for its incredible views of the city, the neighbourhood runs along Guanabara bay, providing visitors with an opportunity to watch the sunset from one of Rio’s greatest natural treasures: Sugarloaf Mountain (Pao de Acucar). It is said that the locals in Urca are “bon vivant,” which is one of the reasons the area attracts people of all styles and ages. Urca is the perfect place to take a stroll and appreciate the area’s beautiful architecture, enjoy a cocktail and some delicious seafood pastries at a bar, or bring a bottle of wine and enjoy it while sitting anywhere along the stone seawall known as the “mureta.”
