There are not enough words to describe how beautiful it when you are up there crossing the sky between one mountain and the other and yet, there's more to come...Once you arrive, we were speechless, the place was so nice, nature is so overwhelming...Really beautiful! Highly recommended.

After competing the tour at Christ, the views were great but not quite as spectacular. I guess as you are nowhere near as high. So probably do this first. Cool little marmoset monkeys running around everywhere. The best part was the cool bar at the top. Relaxed environment chilled house music. $25 caipirinha were a bit over the top considering... My wife and I visited here as part of day trip around Rio. Firstly is the two cable car journeys which are really amazing and are integral part of the trip. The views from the first station are amazing but wait until you reach the summit of sugarloaf mountain. The views are truly amazing and thanks for digital camera allowing... More

A must do in Rio! Fantastic views and plenty to do for a few hours! The cable car ride is an experience for all and once you reach the top you are met with the most stunning views of Rio de Janeiro! The restaurant, shops and museum will keep all the family busy for hours! Very informative of the history... More

Iconic and deservedly so. You must accept some delays when visiting such an iconic location and when you do then you can sit back and enjoy the magnificent views over the city. You might also be interested in James Bond's calves car from 'Moonraker' which is on exhibit. A must do and well worth the effort.

This key attraction in Rio de Janeiro is reached by two cable cars, which cost a rather expensive 62 Reais! The first cable car takes you to Urca Hill, where it is worth spending some time for a few photos. The second cable car then takes you to the summit of Sugar Loaf Mountain with spectacular views. Your cable car... More

Nice views over the city when you get to the top. Both cable cars ran without too much waiting and seemed to be very well organised. Short taxi ride from Copacabana.

Staying in Urca

Neighbourhood Profile
Urca is one of the oldest areas in Rio. Known for its incredible views of the city, the neighbourhood runs along Guanabara bay, providing visitors with an opportunity to watch the sunset from one of Rio’s greatest natural treasures: Sugarloaf Mountain (Pao de Acucar). It is said that the locals in Urca are “bon vivant,” which is one of the reasons the area attracts people of all styles and ages. Urca is the perfect place to take a stroll and appreciate the area’s beautiful architecture, enjoy a cocktail and some delicious seafood pastries at a bar, or bring a bottle of wine and enjoy it while sitting anywhere along the stone seawall known as the “mureta.”
