Prainha Beach is a secluded half-moon-shaped beach, bordered on each side by rocks and high cliffs. It is one of the best surfing spots in Rio, and may be reached by car or by the orange "surf bus" that passes through Copacabana and Ipanema.

Provided you don't mind taking a 45-50 minute ride from central Rio through Barra de Tijuca, Grumari is well worth the effort. It's a thoroughly charming beach that even in the height of summer isn't too crowded. The huge rocks that sit near the shoreline...More

Though you probably need a car to reach this paradise it is well worth it. Clean beach and water where you can swim or surf. Be careful because the current can get very strong and since the beach is protected you must arrive early to...More

I love this little restaurant and the Prainha. I enjoy talking to the owner and tasting the best shrimp and casquinha de siri while looking at the beach. It is like paradise.

Prainha is far from the touristic track but it is definetely worth a visit. Wake up early cause in summer sometimes the Road that gives access to the beach is closed due to the large amount of people who go there. Scenic views on the...More

The place is a bit secluded, suggest you look for hotels in Barra region as most of those will be able to arrange transportation to and from Prainha.
