I was in praia da Urca last week, it was really beautiful. Nice weather and beautiful landscape. I preffered this beach compared to Ipanema which is normally very crowded - I highly recommend to go and relax there.
Urca beach is another nice small beach in Rio. Less popular than it's glitzy cousins (Copacabana & Ipanema), it offers a more quiet and less touristy beach experience. It is a small beach though but it has great views of Sugar Loaf mountain.

Amazed at the negative reviews, small beautiful beach next to Sugar Loaf Mountain, live jazz music when we visited, band played some Miles Davis numbers! Extraordinary musicians. Black vultures visiting the beach to feed. Laid back and picturesque place.
