Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Home of Botafogo Futebol e Regatas, Nilton Santos stadium is by far the best stadium in the city, easy access by train, taxi and car with many options around for food and drinks. Highly recommend check Botafogo site for tickets and experience one of the best atmosphere in Rio with their supporters making incredible party during the matches. A must visit!

There is a station right at the stadium which makes getting there easy enough. There are plenty of bars and food stands in the stadium itself. The atmosphere was great. We left the gig a little early to avoid the madness afterwards and glad we did.

Never visited Brasil just in TV. But this is my team even though I am 100% mexican. I like the jogo bonito! Viva the king of soccer.

We simply had to catch a game whilst in Brazil and the only possibility was a local derby between Botafogo and Flamengo.

Great atmosphere and amazing experience. Getting tickets was difficult, we had to run around botafogo a bit asking for directions from the club shop, which apparently do not sell tickets. Tickets are purchased from a tiny hole in the wall just round the corner. The tickets were £2 each!

I had an amazing time here! I'm not a football fan, but couldn't pass the opportunity to see a game in South America. It was close to the highlight of my trip! The atmosphere was just electric, and it helped that Botafogo won! The chanting and the music of the fans was like nothing I've seen before! I organised the ticket and transport through my hotel. I was crammed into a van with about 10 other locals and tourists and dropped out the front. I was walked to my gate where I was 'handed over' to some locals who were seated near me. At the end of the match, these locals made sure I was safe back in the van. I suspect they were friends of the tour operator. It is in a pretty dodgy area, so I'm glad I didn't have to navigate the crowds and dark streets unaccompanied. I cannot recommend enough!

We were lucky enough to catch the Brazilian cup semi final between Botafogo and Flamengo!
The stadium entry was managed brilliantly segregating the 2 sets of fans! The atmosphere was electric all night from hours before the game and that was for a 0-0 draw!
It blew any UK away day out of the water!

Home of Botafogo de Futebol e Regatas, the Olympic Stadium held the Summer Olympic Games Rio 2016. An amazing building customized with Botafogo's colors black and white. Botafogo is also the most traditional team in Brazil, tha had some of the most brilliant players in the history like Garrincha, Nilton Santos, Jairzinho, Amarildo and many more.
It is possible to look at some statues at the west entrance.
Try it during a match!

Nilton Santos is the home of Botafogo Football Club located in Meier nearby train station, bus stops and taxis spot. A beautiful olympic stadium with merchandising inside, lot of toilets and snack bars.

The 2016 Olympic stadium that is Botafogo football clubs home stadium. It has been renovated since the the Olympics so reduced capacity but you can very much still recognise it. I went to a Botafogo game and it wasn't a huge game but it was still cool to catch a game. If you are a sports buff like I am it is worth visiting.

Nice atmosphere even though we were cheering for the visiting team. It could improve on the food sold at the venue not a lot of variety.

Try Uber instead of taxis! Way cheaper
