Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Beautiful beach, fun activities, great restaurants on the beach with zamba music. The views are amazing, friendly locals.

Slightly less expensive than Copacabana but still with all the style. Where the two meet is hard to distinguish. The beach is slightly less busy, but still has all the facilities.

There does not seem to be any real difference between Leme and the Copacabana beach. We found the area slightly less crowded though. Still the same beautiful water and sand.

Leme is an extension of Copocanaba really. We spent more time here when we moved to the Hilton hotel.

We even did a short walking tour of the area so we found a few nice places to eat and a little bit about the history of the place. A good area to stroll.

Its location being after Copacabana beach means the beach is less busy outside of the weekends.

Hotels such as the Copacabana Palace means it has a more upmarket feel.

However do note that near the Hilton was an entrance to a favela neighbourhood but a police car was on guard to ensure no tourist goes in by mistake.

Thisbos esswntially a quiter section of Copacabana Beach. Located at the far end- away from Ipanema. Things are a little quieter here. Not so many people. Water also a little less lively and therefore more suitable for children. Some great surfers to watch. Beach cafe/ bar / restaurants available.

This beach is at one end of Copacabana and is essentially the same as all the beaches along this strip of coastline which apparently is all reclaimed. It has sand, bodies and a nned to take care.

We stayed here for 10 days as a family of 4 with 2x <10 year olds. The area was safe, even at night, well lit, a reasonable number of decent restaurants (though you can also grab an uber for cheap, so we ate elsewhere >50% of the time). The beach is quieter than the main Copacabana and Ipanema strips, with fewer hawkers and far less traffic (due to the road being a dead end). Highly recommended for young families.

By sharing yoA nice spot to have a pineapple juice or a coconut drink – right from the coconut!!
I saw people that jumped into the water from the wall – looked really fun!!
Some see turtles in the water
So you can either enjoy it for the jumping into the water, or as a walk along the wall with spectacular views!!

Glorious beach on the northern end of Copacabana Beach. One of the safest places in Rio (so we were told). Easy to access and good places to eat nearby and a nice local feel. Loved it.
