Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

After reading some reviews we decided to go there. The market is located a few blocks apart from the ferry station, during our way there we could find some small stores with cheap products, cheaper than in the Center of RJ.
Anyway, the fish market isn't really big, but it has a lot of stalls with fresh fish, shrimps, octopus and so on.... do they have a fair price? I can't tell
What I can say is that on the second floor there are few restaurants, we ate at Bar do Wagner (it was the one with more locals), and we had a very good lunch there at a fair price.

Summarizing, if you are a tourist visiting Niteroi and want to have a good fish meal, do no hesitate and go there, you won't be dissapointed

At Rio's twin city of Niterói, on the other side of Guanabara Bay, you'll find our most important and busiest fish market: "Mercado São Pedro", responsible for 80% of all fresh fish consumed in Rio's metropolitan area. "Cariocas" and the most acclaimed Rio's chefs come here every morning shopping for the best "catch of day"! On the ground floor, in nearly fourty booths, fishermen sell their production; on the second floor, eight restaurants prepare famous recipes. And you can also buy your own fish and have it prepared - specially for you - at one the restaurants upstairs (at an agreed fee). Just amazing and delicious. Enjoy!

After going around the fish market, I went upstairs to eat in one of the various small places. You also can buy the fish downstairs and take it up a they will cook it for you. Very simple but very nice, I ate at Leda's and loved the calamari, the fish also very good. Very good price!

Excellent place to shop for fresh fish and seafood! Good service and an attached restaurant for those who enjoy eating their purchases right there!
