About
Here at MAI - Museu de Arte Indigena, are gathered numerous original pieces of art made by Brazilian natives, including pieces made of feathers, pottery, weaves, musical instruments, ritualistic masks and utility objects. This collection is the result of over a decade of work of our director and founder, Julianna Podolan Martins, an indigenous art specialist, that collected art and knowledge from several ethnicities that live all over Brazil. This museum is formed by a private collection that originally was exhibited in Clevelandia, Parana in 2009. Since then, it has been known around the world for its diversity and beauty. And now the museum is located in Curitiba, Parana.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Beautiful artefacts, well displayed with perfect lighting. I really appreciated the explanations of the objects in English as well as Portuguese.
I was surprised at the large number of indigenous tribes in Brazil.
Also loved the very tempting gift shop, especially the rare types of native-bee honey.
Can definitely recommend.

I had the pleasure of visiting MAI with my kids 13 and 11 years old, it was an amazing and unexpected experience for them and for me.
My kids speak Portuguese but there was a lot of things that they couldn’t understand, luckily our guide had a good English knowledge and translated some of the information accurately when needed.
I was so amazed by all the information that we’ve learned, the exhibits are well displayed and conveniently placed in a well maintained and beautifully decorated space, we have also had the opportunity to taste Indigenous honey (from Native Brazilian bees) and salt.
This is a highly recommended experience.
Thank you MAI for a lovely afternoon.

MAI is a beauty as a museum presentation space of the Arts of Indigenous Peoples.
But beyond this, MAI is a place for the appreciation of indigenous arts (plumeries, banks, remos, ceramic pieces and other objects.
#Oceano_de_aventuras super recommends visiting this space.

I went last Friday, arrived on time at 10hs, the museum was already open and who welcomed us was Jaqueline.
Really a visit that is very well worth it.
The only thing that left to be desired is that the air conditioning throughout the museum was off and Curitiba was marking its 30° out there, that is, it was really hot and it was a hassle to me. The air started to be connected when another couple arrived and I found it quite dishonest - or inattention - with us, since we were a group of 3 people.
One cannot enter with bags / backpacks, these are in a volume guard on the ground floor, which makes it understandable because it is a collection and care is necessary.
The Yanomamis photo exhibition also delighted me quite.
Worth a visit!

Clean, air-conditioned, very organized environment with very friendly and polite staff. The best part of the exhibition are the photos of the Yanomami. Very sensitive works.
