It sits on the main arterial road of Belem and forms part of a good... More

The tour is cheap, the guides are very knowledgeable and the tour is given in English or Portuguese. A nice way to spend an hour or so.

Beautiful theater in the city Republic Square, founded in 1878, during rubber cycle, an economic growth time in Amazon Region. It has a rich detailed architecture, an astonishing bulding to visit and just look around or to watch spectacles.

So, inspired by the famous "Teatro ala Scala", in Milan (Italy), the local Government started, in 1869, the construction of its neoclassical opera house. After some years, the new "Theatro da Paz" opened its doors to the... More

Theatro da Paz was built during Belém rubber boom in the late 19th century. It is interesting enough from the outside, but really amazing inside. We particularly liked the straw chairs – very convenient in the searing Belém temperatures – and the primitive air-conditioning system that used dry ice containers under the chairs. They have regular guided visits that should... More

Teatro da Paz is of neo-classical architecture and was opened in 1874 during the rubber boom. It seats around 740 people. The theatre fell into disrepair but was restored in the 1960's with another major reformation occurring in the 1990's. We did a tour of the theatre with an English speaking guide. Our guide was excellent and the tour was... More
