On Sundays the park has a unique crafts market where you can find lots of interesting things. Also funny on Sundays is the dogs day out. Through the week it's very quiet and at night a bit scary to be.

It is busy on a weekend but quiet during the week. There are many live performers and food vendors on a weekend. I don't know why or for how long but the bandstand and fountains were all closed off

Praca da republica is a nice square to visit at day (in the evening its deserted and the chance of being robbed big), it is an historic square with the old theather in the middle. (Some of the other buildings are under construction now april 2016)

This square is one of the best preservede old squares in Brasil. There's an european air in this amazonic place. Look around, see the stile. But be preapred for the heat.

This is among the top 3 things to see in Belem, it is a large green area, ideial for walking or jogging where you will find areas to rest and enjoy the vegetation but also you will be able to see well preserved a bit of Belem from early 20 th century, the "Theatro da Paz", a jewel in art... More

The square is beautiful, with nice buildings around, however, the grass is spoiled by rubbish. I was told that after 8pm the square is unsafe for walking around. On Sundays there is street market. I found the handcraft section quite poor. There are lots of Chinese items for sale. We tried some of the homemade food.

Praca da Republica is a beautiful square. On Sundays there is an art fair, and I highly recommend it. I suggest you take an umbrella and use it, even in plain sunshine, during mango season. The trees around the square are mango trees, and unfortunately they can fall on your head and cause serious problems, it happened to my son.... More

In this 'praça', that means something like square or park, you'll find the famous Belem's theatre and apart from that not much. Lots of homeless people walking around during the evening make it a bit dodgy and might be dangerous.

I'm very angry about this place, because is one of the most amazing park of the city; it hosts the Pavulagem which is a great event in June/July. The problem is that is a very dangerous place in the night, with the police who has to do a better job to avoid street sellers to annoy you every 5 minutes.... More
