I'm an Australian tourist who visited Belem with my Brazilian partner. The modern art museum at the Casa das Onze Janelas was a fantastic surprise and was probably my highlight of visiting Belem. The museum is small, but had some very interesting and beautiful art works (see photos). Highly recommended.

This magnificent mansion was built in the 18th Century as the private residence of a wealthy landlord and entrepeneur. The imposing construction was later turned into a hospital and military barracks. Finally, in 2001, after being completely restored, it opened again as a cultural center, devoted to arts and temporary exhibitions. As it is located in the very heart of... More

The building, a former militar hospital is interesting in itself. At the moment there are few exobitions and I enjoyed seeing the importance of food in Para's culture. The exibition is quite small and could be done much better.

The restaurant was close and there was only an exposition (visual arts). They could make a better use of this historic site.

This site combines an art exhibit area and a bar-restaurant. The restored building is quite nice and is in good condition. We visited the site, but as that particular art exhibit did not interest us and we just had lunch, there was little to do there. To be honest, we expected more.

The building and surroundings are very beautiful, it is a nice place to stand just admiring the view, but apart from that is noting really special about the place.

Place is beautiful, nice night view to the river, including view to an old navy vessel. The cultural center does have some interesting attractions, but people actually go there for the place and the views from it. Restaurant is pricey, but good.

This centre is by the old fort. There is a walkway by the river with wonderful views. Cultural displays are found in the building which change from time to time. A small park is on the grounds. As the temperature rises stop for a chilled green coconut and relax in the shade. There were old cars on display out front... More

The complex itself is a beautiful place to go for a walk. Inside the house there is a restaurant which I strongly do not recommend. They are unable to provide good service and to bring your order in an acceptable time. Don't go to this place, if you don't want to be nervous.
