Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This cachoeira is special because it is completely surrounded by rocks, so kind of underground. It is hard to get a good view of the waterfall. There are stairs descending into the water, but I didn't feel like getting wet, with some more walking ahead of me. The hike to get there is quite easy. From the entrance on the Ouro Preto side, getting out of the bus, I think it is just over an hour to get to the visitor center, and from there it is maybe 200 meters to the waterfall, with only the last 20 meters involving some climbing of rocks. Interesting birds around too.

Interesting place. Short begginers level hiking rout. The view on the trail is really beautiful. It takes about 15 minutes to reach cachoeira from cars parking place. By walk from Ouro Preto it would take about 1 hour to get to cachoeiras. Don't expect much from it but still worth you time to see it!

Outside of town.
Did not expect it to be so beautifull.
Off the dirtroad, straight into nature.
We came for the waterfall. It's underground. A bit of a climb down and a little crawling. Down a ladder and into a cave. What a fun experience.
As a bonus also a stunning view once we got out and walked on a bit.
Just the photo opportunity was worth the climbing.

Good place to take pictures, you can have a good view from the rocks, the waterfall itself is not a big deal. If you are spending some time in Ouro Preto and want to escape to nature its a good idea.
How to get there: If you have a car is easy. But if you are walking like I was the trail is around 3 km, the problem is to come back, because its uphill, but if you are used to it its ok.

May get crowded. Used to be much nicer when only locals went to the place. It's been better kept but that's how it goes... It should be a place to go alone, but unfortunately many other people will have that same idea.

The park is very beautiful and easy to get to by car or Uber from the Historic Center of Ouro Preto. It has a headquarters with clean bathrooms, showers and fresh water for visitors to fill their bottles. But...

There is a lack of common sense when evaluating trails. The classification is made by an NBR that classifies the difficulty for those who practice sports and not for ordinary visitors and, therefore, it is difficult to access the waterfalls considered to belong to the "easy" or "normal" level trails. To get to the most famous of them, Cachoeira das Andorinhas, you walk less than 10 minutes on an easy trail. But, at the end of the trail, there is a (literally) narrow hole, in a slope, between rocks, which you need to pass through to access the waterfall. Without going down there, you won't see the waterfall. And it's very difficult to get down. An obese person also does not pass through the gap. And you only find out about this when you arrive at the location.

Access to the other trails is also not easy (I would say that, for ordinary people, it is medium to high) and the park has difficult and precarious signage. A shame, because the view is stunning.

They could use the official difficulty rating and a parallel one from visitors to avoid frustration.

If you like walking, just go up the street to the left of the Escola de Minas, set aside the day. The climb is long, strong, not very urbanized, made by pavement, take the opportunity to enjoy the view. At the top, enjoy the simple sweets from the grocery store. Take the walk down to the park along the dirt road, leaving the climb to be done on the way back along the trail to the bus stop. If you have breath, go down the same street you went up, otherwise take the bus and go down to the right of the Escola de Minas through narrow, very urbanized streets, enjoy the skill of the driver, 45 minute interval. The park is another assessment.
