Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I thoroughly enjoyed this visit although it was not in my itinerary, great to take a detour. Very pleasing to see some indigenous crafts and artifacts - the baskets were beautiful, full-length masks quite intriguing. There were photographs and some historical information plus the museum space was used effectively with an outdoor space for ceremonies. Highly recommended for a visit of museums in Brasilia.

Having spent too much time at the nearby Memorial JK for the former president Joscelino Kubitschek I found the 'Memorial dos Povos Indigenas' already closed, when I arrived, so I could only admire the exterior of this Indian inspired circular building with its geometrical decorative pattern on the outer wall.

A work by Oscar Niemeyer this memorial-museum on the big Plaza Buriti, named after a local palm tree, shows the collections of various anthropologists like Darcy Ribeiro, which they had brought together from different Indian nations of Brazil.

Initially this building was meant to be a new museum for modern art, but an active group of Native Indians tribes demanded a memorial museum for them and their own artists. After a long struggle they succeeded in this and together with architect Carlos Niemeyer, this museum was created.

One of the best laces to visit in Brasilia. Expect a nice tour of the Brazilian indians traditions. Hire a local guide at the entrance and be introduced to this amazing culture by the indians themselves.

A very good combination of fixed exhibition of artifacts of local indigenous peoples and, when I was there, two exhibitions of recent photographs of their life. The artifacts include decoration, pottery, tools and weapons, pottery, basketry, and wood carvings. The artistry of the feather decorations, at the beginning of the exhibition, was astounding! The photographs documented the life of the Zo'e ethnic group, showing how they live in harmony with nature and why this harmony is threatened. Well worth a visit.

Nice museum to spend about an hour close to other attractions in Brasilia. Has some interesting craft work like pottery, hand made baskets bows and other hand made tools from the Indigenous people. I would like to have seen more photos displayed about these people since the museum is about Indigenous people. What that they had where nice just could use some more of these beautiful and interesting people.

It has beautiful architecture and is right in front of the JK memorial. I thought there was a very small collection on display, it gave the impression that it was kind of abandoned, a shame.
