Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stopped here for some photos on our tour of Salvador that we purchased at the cruise terminal. The first fort was built here in 1583 and there has been one here ever since. The site was made a Brazilian national heritage monument in 1957. Like everything else on Feb. 26th, this building was closed.
There was also a beautiful beach just below, although we did not stop there.

One of my fav places I love in Salvador! Visit during the afternoon is like going to a resting place! The view is amazing and the sunset is a true awe! There's also a delicious Pastel pie-stand at the fort at a reasonable price!

Visiting Salvador, one cannot miss "Ponta de Humaitá" (also known as Ponta de Monte Serrat) and its monuments. "Forte de Nossa Senhora de Monte Serrat" is one of them. Its construction dates as far back as 1583, when it was known as "Forte de São Filipe". Built, rebuilt, restored and renamed, it became "Forte de Nossa Senhora de Monte Serrat", a beautiful example of military architecture and was officially appointed, in 1957, as a Brazilian National Heritage Monument. It houses a small museum ("Museu da Armaria"), administered by the Brazilian Army, displaying a fine collection of old weapons. Try to come on late afternoon and enjoy a magic sunset at "Ponta de Humaitá"! Enjoy!

This place is not promoted so much by the tourist guides resulting in not to be famous as tourist attraction. That makes the place peaceful, is not crowded and it is more "original". The view is fabulous and the fort is very beautiful, in colonial style with traditional towers and colored white. The combination of the small church, the sea and the white fort gives the place a unique beauty.

Monte Serrat is such an incredible place, the fort is one of the most beautiful I've seen in the world, very colonial style, all white colored with traditional watch towers, a jewelry and a must see. A perfect timing to visit is late afternoon to see the sunset. Nearby you can enjoy some local restaurants, some coconut drink or just relax and take a cold beer.

A great view of Salvador
it lays on a hill a little bit out Salvador downtown but just around half an hour from there.
Worth the trip since you can see the nicest parts of that city
