Who knew that the signature exterior dome is just for show...the real interest is in the beautiful details and the layout of the theatre itself. Loved the fact that the artist who did the massive painting above the audience wanted you to feel as though you were under the Eiffel Tower ...it's quite striking. Do go for a visit and... More

This is by far the best place to visit in Manaus. What a Opera house. The concert we attended was amazing and the hall is filled will amazing architecture. The painting are as old as the building itself. The crystal mirror on the 2nd floor was amazing. What a terrific place for kids and adults alkike.

This is not only a huge building but so totally unexpected in the middle of the Amazon rain forest! It is a beautiful building and finished in the most grandiose style imaginable. If you close your eyes on some parts of the guided tour you can imagine the ghosts of this opera house. It is however still operating today with... More

I visited the Theater during a tour of the city. The building has beautiful architecture, paintings, flooring, and history. I wish the theater was better lit so I could have enjoyed the rich colors it has. This is one of the jewels of the city.

The opera house is an amazing site to come across in the middle of Manaus. Be sure to take the guided tour so that you can see the inside and some of the other rooms.

We visited Manaus as a jump-off point for a jungle tour, but this was worth squeezing into our very busy itinerary. Lovely building with a mosaic-tiled dome. A friend mentioned this was a copy of the opera house in Milan. Wow!

They have several every week, which lets you see the gorgeous theatre in action. Check the cultural center website. Show up an 30-60 minutes early and you'll get a nice seat. If you get there late, they'll direct you upstairs. Ask them where the bathroom is, it's off to the left and you can sneak access to the floor seats... More
