1927年創業の日立電鉄のバス部門。2005年に鉄道線が廃止され、バスやタクシーなどの会社になりました。日立市をはじめ茨城県北地域をメインに路線バスを、東京駅や羽田空港等との高速バスを運行しており、東京～日立間の高速バスは結構、混雑します。日立市は平地が工場や商業施設、住宅は山の上という街の作りなので、バスがこまめに走っており、それぞれの団地と日立駅や常陸多賀駅、大甕駅を結んでいるバスが多く、また、工場の従業員を対象とした(一般の方も乗れますが)工場行きのバスも多く走ります。さらに、鉄道線の廃線跡を利用したBRTも運行しており、現在、日立駅方面に向けて工事中。こちらが完成するとさらに便利になると思います。もともとは日立製作所の子会社で、工場の稼働日が平日ダイヤ、お休みの日が休日ダイヤでしたが、近年、日立の工場の休みがカレンダー通りとなったので、ごく一般のダイヤになりつつあります。2017年にみちのりHDに売却され、2019年5月には茨城交通と合併され、社名も茨城交通に変更予定。日立電鉄バスの名前が消えるのは寂しいですが、今使えないSuicaやPASMOが2022年あたりから使えるようになるらしいので、今よりも便利になることを期待。

日立市や北茨城市などを走るバス会社。昔は日立電鉄線という鉄道もありましたが、廃止されてバス会社だけになってしまいました。バスの車体は上が白で下が青い色でカラーリングされていました。

My friend and I got on the bus from Ogizu station and got off at Shimodajiri, but even though I had my wallet out, you should at least have the money! "I'm not sure what to do," the bus driver said in a snap.

水戸への出張時に茨城交通の高速バスを利用しました。
日中だったせいかかなり空いていてゆっくりしかもIC利用で2000円とJRよりも安く移動できました。
