湯畑から西の河原公園まで続く、いわゆるメインストリートの１つです。通りの両サイドには趣のある店舗があります。草津温泉プリンがお勧めです。

西の河原に至る草津のメインストリートと言って良いのでしょう。宿や飲食店、饅頭屋など土産物屋が並んでいます。気前の良い饅頭屋のおじさんが立っていて作り立ての美味しい饅頭を頂けますが、気を強く持たないとおじさんのペースに飲まれます。

Tagsüber sehr spannend, es gibt viele interessante Läden. Unter anderem kann man gekochtes Ei aus dem Onsen testen oder Onsen Manju, sehr lecker ! Die Restaurant machen abends leider relativ früh zu.

饅頭とお茶をもらえる店があります。ただ、何回も通っていると「さっき食べたお兄ちゃんだね？」と聞かれます。西の河原公園近くの草津温泉に泊まったのですが、帰り道なので通ると「お兄ちゃん、帰るのかい？食べてく？」と聞かれます。めんどくさい反面、これだけ多くの人が通る中で、よくみんなのことを覚えていられることに感心しました

草津温泉のシンボルとして賑わう湯畑から西の河原公園へ向かう途中にこの通りを歩きました。
いかにも温泉街の商店街といった雰囲気で飲食店やお土産屋さんが軒を連ねていました。
お饅頭や温泉玉子に惹かれました。

湯畑から西の河原温泉まで続く、左右に商店が並ぶ通りです。飲食店はもちろん、温泉まんじゅうを無料でくばっていたり、お土産物屋さんにスイーツ屋さんに、のんびり歩きを楽しめる通りです。温泉手前には足湯もあるので、疲れたら休むこともできました。

湯畑からのんびりと歩いてゆけばお土産屋、旅館、食事処など沢山両側にあるので楽しめます。昔ながらのお饅頭屋、漬物屋もありました。途中 片岡鶴太郎美術館もありました。西の河原公園まで歩けば紅葉の景色も楽しめました。
奥には露天風呂もあります。鬼の相撲広場という広場もありました。

7月の昼間に入ってみました。夏休みでしたが平日のせいか人はそこそこ。広々としてました。お湯は草津の湯でいい感じです。一番近い駐車場からは結構坂道を下ります。帰りは上りになりますので注意。

湯畑から河原公園へ行くときに通る道です。昔ながらの風情のある旅館やお土産屋さんが並んでいます。途中おまんじゅうの試食を勧められますが遠慮なく頂きました♪
狭い通りですが車両の通行もあるので気をつけて歩きましょう。
