Had a picnic here with friends. Super nice place! It's pretty self-explanatory, a big field by Regan National Airport. It's loud when planes fly by, but that's the point of it really. It's fun to see them overhead, as close as you can get outside...More

I am enjoying my fifth decade of life and have been coming to Gravelly Point Park since I was a little kid. In my teens & 20s, we would come here for picnics & to watch the July 4th fireworks while the Beach Boys performed...More

Wonderful vantage point to observe departing planes from Reagan. Whether for photography or just an interesting location for a picnic, it's worth checking out.

If you want to sit on the grass immediately below commercial jets taking off or landing this is the place to be. And the best way to get there is by bicycle as the Mt. Vernon Trail goes right past it.

I love bringing my son here after school, weekends, basically any time the weather is good. I even bring my dog here to walk/run around while my son's at school. It has plenty of picnic tables to enjoy some food and if there isn't any...More

Nothing fancy -- a park along the Potomac River at the end of the runway to Reagan National Airport -- but, depending on the wind, planes either land or take off right over your head. Prepare little ones for the noise. Kids may also get...More

This park is a small strip at the end of National Airport. It is used mainly for launching the boat into the Potomac river. Many people come to this place just to take a break or to watch planes landing and taking off. Other than...More

First of all, the weather was 75 in February, so it was a beautiful day. It was the perfect place to watch planes take off from Reagan National Airport. Every 2 to 3 minutes a plane takes off and we really enjoyed ourselves. We were...More

Yes it does get crowded for July Fourth. Note you can only access the parking lot when traveling north on GW parkway. Often the field when people usually picnic or play games is packed with cars and trucks. Technically you... More

They fly over every day. They will take off into the wind so depending on which direction the wind is blowing that will dictate if they are landing or taking off over Gravelley Point.
