Adjacent to the Alexandria African American Heritage Park. Quiet and lovely, especially in early morning or late afternoon. Graves, mostly Union troops & some U.S. Colored Troops, include government civilians who died trying to catch John Wilkes Booth.

This is wonderful and personal since both my parents and uncles are buried there. So we go to visit them - but we have taken the tours which are very informative. They have a phone app also which is very helpful.

This is an extensive cemetery, actually a dozen or so cemeteries. The individual cemeteries are divided by plantings, fences, or walls. All the old churches are represented regardless of religion. Some of the veterans buried are unknown, apparently found on the battlefield and interred. Some...More
