Been to Alexandria many times, but never saw the waterfront. Restaurants, views, and very relaxing. Lots of families crowd along the waterfront with room enough for all. There are parks on either end that's accessible via walkways.

I live in DC but love to visit Old Town. The feel of relaxation is sooooooo welcoming and real whenever walking the streets or taking a water taxi or enjoying river cruise. Seeing the street artists and enjoying the unique sound of music from water glasses is also fun! ...and the park is the place to be on a lazy... More

This is a special place, walk the Potomac river front and let your brain visit the past. Do not skip the Torpedo Factory Museum. Take time to enjoy and not rush the experience.

The harbor area is a fantastic place and fun adventure. The ferry takes you to Seattle and the restaurants are an experience.

We live in Alexandria and several times a year we get down to the waterfront. What to do? Walk along the river on paths, eat a leisurely lunch at one of the adjacent restaurants, or simply sit down and enjoy the day. There is no drawback to any of these options. While on the wharf area you can take a... More

Get an ice cream and hang out to watch boats and sea gulls. People watching at its best. The Torpedo Factory and high end restaurants line the banks of this huge river. Follow all parking rules. This area is heavily ticketed. Plenty of parking garages to accommodate visitors. It is selfie galore and numerous family photo opts. High school graduates... More

The history of this building is striking. And a torpedo remains for photos to show respect for the history of being an actual torpedoed factory. Now it's an amazing set gallery with working artists of all types. I love the location by the waterfront! Love the art and learning! It's a great place to visit in every way!

The Potomac ice was 15 inches thick when I moved to Alexandria in 1984. Rarely any ice there any more. The sights in winter are refreshing, and summer sees lots of people, festivals, parties, people having fun. Warched a beaver swim there, have seen the streets flooded. Great place to be.
