Barter theater, Abington, VA This one person performance was a MUST SEE! The actress moved smoothly through the entire performance. There was no instance throughout the performance that she didn't have our entire attention and involvement with her story. It was sensitive, moving, and Broadway quality. Political Dog is an adjoining restaurant ideal for a preperfomance light lunch.

The Barter Theater produces some of the best live theater productions available anywhere. Their actors are professional and members of Actors Equity. Almost all of the productions that we have seen have been excellent. The performances are always energetic, fast-paced and entertaining. Don't miss the opportunity to see a Barter Theater production!

We've attended a few shows in the historic Barter Theatre and "Stage II" and all have been very well done. Avoid sitting in the third row from the front in the main theatre, because the first and second rows are actually higher.

We really enjoyed seeing "Southern Fried Nuptials" at the Barter Theatre on August 7th. Beautiful theatre, not a bad seat in the house. It is easy to see why people return to this theatre time and time again. Show was entertaining and very well done! Bravo!

Outstanding venue for plays and musicals. We saw "Southern Fried Nuptials" and laughed our heads off. Every scene was done splendidly and with great timing, clear lines, and an outstanding cast. It was a treat in every way.

Beautiful, historic little theatre. Full of charm. Play was good, gift shop nicely stocked, and staff was very welcoming.

My wife and I both noted that this was much more like community theater than the normal professional plays we are used to seeing at Barter (probably 10 others over time). The play did a poor job of portraying southern America and the reliance on humor of mentally challenged individuals was cliche, bordering on offensive. I am sure the next... More

We attended a showing of Mary Poppins while on vacation. It was awesome! The children did a wonderful job of acting and we really enjoyed the show. Even though our seats were in the back of the balcony, we could see everything just fine.

What a surprise this turned out to be. Had Friday night ticket packages for play (Southern Fried Nuptials) and desserts. The play was funny and the actors were fantastic. The theatre was very nice with helpful staff members. The dessert and coffee was across the street. You had about 8 choices of pies and coffee/tea or soda. The desserts were... More
