Want to go back

Stopped by for to see some jazz, but got there about 10 minutes too late. Grabbed a drink and enjoyed just hanging out. Will certainly return

Im an "Austinite" and I was born here. I love the Elephant Room. It is a low key, quaint, hole in the wall (basement) venue. If you are lucky enough to be in Austin and can schedule yourself around a performance you need to see Kevin Lovejoy. He is a pianist and has a couple of other people on stage... More

We were in Austin to soak up local color and music. In downtown Austin, everyone we spoke to steered us to the Elephant Room. Some had been there and many locals had only known it by its reputation for being a legendary part of the Austin Scene. The music started at six and was listed on the Austin music website... More

A hole in the wall? Actually a hole in the basement. Really a fun way to enjoy Austin on any afternoon. We weren't there late enough for the dynamite live music, but we still got a "feel" for the place through our friendliest of bartenders, Jeff. He is the best, and he introduced us to everyone that walked through the... More

We looked up Trip Advisor as usual when first arriving and selected The Elephant Room. And yeh, as we like our music this place proved to be interesting, with its downstairs and speakeasy atmosphere. The barman, Will was welcoming, although busy, and importantly for us, there were plenty of draught beers. We are Australians and as this was the 10th... More

The bartender at our dinner restaurant suggested this club so we gave it a try. Very cool, good jazz, full bar. I wish they had chips or pretzels or something to nibble with the drinks. Other than that, great fun and no complaints.

We stopped in about 8:30 on a Wednesday night on a recommendation from a local. There is no cover on the weekdays. The band was supposed to start at 9:30 but didn't crank up until 9:45. They were ok. We were tired and didn't stay long. Margaritas were good. Lots of beer on draft. By 9:30 it was very crowded... More

Kind of funny place as it has 3 levels. upper is a restaurant, middle (ground) wine bar and lower is the jazz club. I went for the jazz so went downstairs. It was very casual with good acoustics. I had the first table which made the drums a little too loud but it may have been that the band leader... More

Non-description signage makes it a tad hard to find - down a flight of stairs and the bar itself is like one long corridor with band at the far end. Bar staff are super friendly and music is rotated so a different band each night - happy hour band from 7-8pm and then headline from 930pm. Caught the Bakers Dozen... More
