The museum had nice décor and was organized, but there wasn't that many artifacts. It was mostly historical documents and newspaper clippings. If you are really into looking at documents and reading history, this may be your type of venue. Don't go to this museum as the highlight of your trip to Austin.

Highly recommend this museum to anyone interested in Texas history. It is easy to park in the underground museum lot for $8 --found the history learned at the museum helped appreciate other historical sites such as Mission San Jose and The Alamo.

If you are interested in Texas history, this is the place to go for a great overview of the state's history and evolution. You will not be overwhelmed with minutia and stuffy old stuff you sometimes experience in a history museum. To do it well and get the full value of the presentations, take your time; it's very easy to... More

You can see an 'Imax' type of documentary here among other points of interest. Cafe is large and has a varied menu to keep the kids interested. Lot of information here! Statues of influential Texans and those integral in the forming and development of the State.

Love this museum. Lots to see and do. All ages welcome here, something for everyone. If walking is not your thing, they have elevators.

If you have not visited "The Bob" by all means drop in and see the history of Texas, on film, or one room at a time. We enjoy going to the evening popular films that show on the very large Imax theatre that is open after hours for current release movies. Underground parking makes for an all weather spot. Go... We were there on Homeschool day so it was crowded with loud, chatty children. The exhibits were interesting though. Not enough time for us to do the IMAX. (Would have liked to seen an exhibit on the hurricane in Galveston though.)

My wife and I enjoyed the iMax theater and the 4D theater was a unique experience. Lots of Texas historical items on display in the museum.
