6th Street is a great place to hangout. A must see in Austin. Night life a lot more fun than day time.

What's not to do on 6th street? My wife went for the weekend and we had so many option from food and bars we couldn't possibly do it all. On the weekends they even close the street off to traffic so you can walk freely from bar to bar without concern. Absolute blast!

This is a great place to go and hang out. If you have never been to Austin, you should give this a chance. There are so many places to watch live music, eat, have a drink, and shop. I have been to Austin several times and I always spend a couple of evenings here when I go. The live music... More

My adult children (mid- 20s) relocated to Austin last year. When we visited this year at the top of their 'must-see' list was 6th Street. It was a unique, eclectic atmosphere that did not disappoint in the evening.

Obviously, if Austin is the life music capital of the country, then the 6th Street is the heart of the capital! It has music and food venues to satisfy any of the tastes. From blues, to jazz, from pun to rock and disco. The street gets blocked from traffic and becomes entirely pedestrian Friday and Saturday nights. A must visit... More

You can't go wrong with visiting 6th Street in Austin. There are so many wonderful shops with an ecliptic variety of treasures to find. I'm sure you will find things here you can't or won't find anywhere else. From the serious to the bizarre, one reason they say keep Austin weird. At night, 6th Street shuts down and turns into... I feel that it is man-made artificial attraction geared toward tourists: souvenir shops everywhere. There is more visitors than local people.

Really enjoyed our time on 6th St. Heard alot of good music while visiting the different clubs along the strip. Parking was easy and walking was just fine.

This is the main nightlife area of Austin. Bars are strewn up and down with plenty of live music. Some, of course, are better than others but all in all, it was a fun atmosphere with tons of places to stop in, eat and/or have a drink or 12. I was in town for work on my own and still... More
