We visited SOCO last night. Peddelers and homeless were everywhere. Only one decent place to eat and have a drink. Hopdaddy Burger Bar. Very good burgers and specials on drinks. The shops were very eclectic and all foreign goods being sold.

We wandered down to the SoCo area during our recent visit to Austin and enjoyed the eclectic mix of bars, cafes and off beat shops

Shops were so cool and quirky, with tons of character and charm. Allen boots very expensive but wonderful selection. Great hamburger resteraunt with delicious food. Texas antiques and special finds every where we looked.

There are so many places to eat and shop. They are all unique and exciting! We really enjoyed Lucy in Disguise with Diamonds, South Congress Books and Monkey See Monkey Do, but it feels like there are too many fun places to name them all!

A simple walk down S. Congress street reveals unique shops with unique items. Some novelty stuff, some junky stuff. Nevertheless there's something for all. In between window and in-store shopping, there are some great food places to stop for a drink or an entire meal. An outdoor garden at one of the stops has a small band playing live music.... More

This place was happening on a Saturday evening! So many cool and unique shops and a ton of places to eat. We enjoyed the couple of hours we spent here minus how expensive the parking was (it was even more than 6th street).

SoCo has unique shops, restaurants, antique stores, music venues and galleries. Parking could be a challenge - it is reverse angle, you back into spaces on a slant. Or you can pay to park in a garage. We were fortunate enough to find a free parking spot on a side street and walked down. There was a small street market... More

There are lots of shops to browse and fun things to see. There are so many delicious restaurants around it will make your mind swirl. There are local hotels and Congress runs right through downtown and it walking distsnce. First Thursdays of each month there is a little market set up with street vendors with even more shopping and food.... More

This broad avenue connects the river with the Capitol and it is popular for the many hotels, restaurants and shops. It is, in my opinion, a bit overrated as there is nothing unique in term of architecture or quality of shops and restaurant. From 6th street to the Capitol it is run down, with a few deserted buildings and many... More
