Visited on a Sunday morning during a trip to Austin with friends, including an 8 year old. Can be a little tricky to find and parking is a bit limited, but worth the trip. Awesome view of both the river and downtown Austin, easy hike...More

Take those 100 steps, get awed by the stunning view of part of Austin & blue water of snaking Colorado River. The Covert Park of 1830s is wonderful gift by Covert family to people of Austin. Caution: keep young kids away from Cliff edges. No...More

Mount Bonnell worth the trip, bit of a walk up, 100 steps but the view is worth it three vantage points for selfie and pic's don't miss out.

My friend that lives just outside of Austin recommended this as a possible sightseeing stop. Time wasn't our friend, so I didn't expect to have the time to go there. We were on our way to see something else and just happened upon Mount Bonnell!...More

Take W. 35th St West until it dead ends onto Mt. Bonnell Rd. Go across an old bridge and up to the crest of the road and look for parking on the left side of the road. Climb the stairway to heaven and enjoy 360...More

Easy to get to, easy parking, nice climb up some steps, then before you, is a stunning view of Austin and the Texas Hill Country.

Austin looks pretty good at street level, but if you want to see the whole picture, head for Mount Bonnell. The view is just great, taking in both the town and lake. As a plus, the neighborhood you go through on the way is not...More

Its a pretty easy, short hike up to the top of Mount Bonnell. This isn't for the avid hikers who want to walk many miles, but perhaps we missed the trails that do give you this option.

If you're from out of town be sure to visit mount Bonnel. You get sweeping views of Austin. There is a good hike you can do or just drive there and park. It can get crowded at sunset but it's worth it. Get there a...More

This used to be a quiet spot to enjoy a sunrise/sunset picnic. While it's still beautiful is gotten extremely busy. I can't recommend a "good time" to go. You'll get a view but there is no guarantee it will be remotely private. In Austin fashion...More

Yes. They have picnic tables & trash cans there in assorted areas but be prepared for a few people passing by & possibly asking for a bite of food!

If you're like most locals and are into fitness, you can rent a bike. If riding in hills is not your thing, you can use a ride-share app like rideaustin (Uber and Lyft don't work here).

Not long at all, maybe ten or fifteen minutes. It's not really a trail, just a set of steps up to the top from the parking area. It's absolutely worth doing, though, because its the best view in Austin.
