The current exhibit "ART OF THE NINETIES" is really quite awful - skip it. There are some nice pieces in the permanent collection. One small room of western art, which I enjoyed, but I would have expected way more from the art museum in the capital of Texas. Come on Texas, you really can do better than this.

I've visited the Blanton Museum of Art a couple of times. The last time was for the Crusader Bible exhibit. I like this museum. It's not very big so you only spend an hour to two on a visit. It has good permanent exhibits with the Renaissance paintings and the Greek statues. It's across the street from the Texas History... More

For a University as wealthy as the University of Texas, it's main museum is very mediocre and expensive for what it displays to the public.

It has different exhibitions that are very good, permanent and temporary, it is free and it is a nice to disconnect from the campus/academic life. Very worthy.

The crusader bible display area was gorgeous. Not just modern art. Some Greek replicas of statues. Beautiful original oil paintings also. I think you could get through it in about 1 1/2 hours.

Was completely surprised by this museum which contains some wonderful pieces by the Masters. The shop across from the museum was eclectic and delightful. Highly recommend a visit!

I really enjoyed my visit to Blanton. One of their special exhibits was on art from the 90's. The art represented was from artists who, at the time, were trying to explore themes in society regarding race, gender, and sexuality. Many pieces were displayed depicting African-American, LGBT, and women in ways that attempted to comment on these individuals place in... More

Classy museum - great traveling exhibits, beautiful atrium area (visiting when they have live music is a treat). Wonderful education programs and good docent tours. Don't forget to visit the gift shop across the walkway - lots of fun items in all price ranges for sale.

honestly I didn't expect a lot when I went there but I was pleasantly surprised: for only five dollars (it's free for UT students and under 12 years old) you can see a lot of wonderful art and the wonderful crusader bible. It is quite empty and the atmosphere is amazing. I'm planning to go back

My son had recommended that we all visit the Blanton when we were visiting him, telling us what a wonderful museum it is. He said there was a very rare Bible on display and he wants to see it. The Crusader Bible was beyond our expectations. We had seen the Gutenberg Bible at the Huntington in LA, and I had... More
