If you go to Austin, take a 30-45 minute walk through the fantastic State Cemetery. Its simply beautiful and honorable resting place for many well known names nationally as well as in Texas history. The grounds are impeccable with a stream running through it. Amazing...More

Visiting the Texas State Cemetery was a welcome respite during a fast paced vacation. Walking through the grounds, looking at the beautiful stones and monuments (911 Memorial was powerful) was like revisiting history. Looking over the soldier field was a poignant visual of the losses.

I'm not really one to visit cemeteries, but this was interesting. I enjoyed seeing the headstones of former Texas greats - from football to the arts. In fact, some of the headstones and markers were themselves works of art. Very interesting.

Very nice grounds and a small museum. Final resting place of numerous historical figures from early and recent Texas history. Worth the time to walk the grounds.

Easy to get to and a beautiful location. Very historic old cemetary. Governors, Senators, Legislators, Congressmen, Judges and many notable Texans are buried here. Research who is buried here before you go. Also check their website to make sure it's not closed for services.

My son toured us around after taking a guided tour himself. We spent a Saturday afternoon there. There is a lot of Texas historical people buried there. The highlight is Chris Kyle’s memorial he is a Texas hero.

We rode the cemetery on our tour of the city. It was one of the things we saw that we would like to have visited again and spent more time in exploring. Maybe on our next visit.

Yes parking is available inside the cemetery but it gets crowded sometimes. Best to Park outside and walk in. Get to see more that way. Well worth the walk.
