Important people who have served the State of Texas as soldiers or statesmen (from Sam Houston to Chris Kyle) are buried here. I don't usually visit cemeteries, but it was a short stroll from our hotel. Glad we did!

My co-author and I elected, with permission, to have our headshots photographed at the Texas State Cemetery. We read the tombstones as we sought the best spot to pose. Texas history came alive for me that day.

Really beautiful cemetery with a lot of history. The confederate field was very moving. Also Chris kyles grave and the 9 11 memorial. Take some time and visit.

This is a beautiful location very near down town. We needed help to find someone's plot and the secrteray was very helpful and drove us to the exact loction. She knew lost about many of the famous people buried there.

We had a very nice time visiting the cemetery. There are many interesting Texans who are buried within this very historic cemetery. The cemetery is a very nice park like setting with a little museum telling of some of the important people who are there.

There are a lot of famous Texans buried at this cemetery. The grounds are beautiful and peaceful. We had a cemetery map so were able to find the graves that we wanted to see. Several former Governors, politicians and ware heroes are buried here.

Yes parking is available inside the cemetery but it gets crowded sometimes. Best to Park outside and walk in. Get to see more that way. Well worth the walk.
