Same thing with the hike and bike trail. This is magic. I go there very New Years Day. The energy from all the happy people will renew your faith in humanity. On a hot summer day, it's wonderful. Hot day, cold clear pure water.
A natural spring fed pool where the water stays about 68-70 degrees year round. Large pool, grass covered banks for sunbathing, people watching. A lovely escape on hot days from the Austin City Limits music festival events nearby IF you have a ticket permitting reentry.
Barton Springs is a great place to cool off on a hot Austin day. It is a spring fed pool so it is cold and refreshing. There are no pool chemicals so that make it nice too. It can get crowded some days.
We tried to get in but the entrance we found was closed... Presidents’ Day! It seemed like there was another entrance open, but we saw it from the outside and enjoyed the park around it! The facilities seem very clean and nice for Summer time!...More
Went in February so it was a bit chilly, however, it didn't stop the locals from going for a swim. There was a lifeguard on duty and it's the size of a standard lap pool and has a shallow end of 4ft. The water is...More
I have to upload the memories and you be the judge. What fun in this 65 degree spring of water to be explored, splashed, & chill in. Something to do thats for sure. There is a fee and regulated rules about what to take before...More
Grew up swimming at Barton Springs and Deep Eddy pools, both spring fed, cold, and clear beautiful water. Barton Springs seems to have never had sufficient funding in the past 40-50 years to make it a tourist draw and public amenity that it deserves. The...More
Had an amazing time at Barton Springs. The water was nice and refreshing. Some folks may want to wear water shoes as there can be lots of rocks, but just jump in and find a shady place along the banks to wade in the water....More

NO food. NO alcohol. NO smoking. ONLY water. Take RIDESHARE. Parking is very limited. Respect the staff they are there to save your life. People drown at this pool. RESPECT THE STAFF. The reason for no food or sugary drinks is because of a battle with fire ants which the pool may be losing because so many people sneak food/drinks in. With the explosion of tourists and new residents the pool is struggling. Locals really hate folks who don’t adhere to these rules. There is always trash left over and that is heartbreaking to see a crushed can or spilled candy covered in ants. Residents love this pool and fiercly protect it. There are rats that like those salty pretzels and that brings snakes. And, get stung by fire ants and you or your babies day is ruined. It’s a life cycle. Get a stamp and have a picnic outside the gates. You can go in and out all day so why break the rules and risk getting thrown out? Buy a JIM JIM’S snow cone and there are food trucks to get pizza or empanadas just outside the gates. Lots of restaurantswithin walking distance.
