This is one of those places we have been meaning to visit, but somehow never got around to exploring. After a few rainy days, seeing the sun, was the incentive we needed to visit. Cannot believe we took so long to get there. We did...More

Beautiful state park with lots of wildlife. The male deer were almost ready for rut with their new antlers. Lots of great birds to view. The falls were OK but not spectacular. Great place to picinic or possibly a photographer's special place.

We went and did some hiking. It was so pretty this time of the year. Nice and relaxing not strenuous. If you are in Austin, why not?

McKinney Falls State Park is a surprising oasis almost right in Austin. The waterfalls are on Onion Creek (wild onions everywhere) and are usually impressive except during really dry spells of weather. Lots of shallow swimming holes for younger kids and really nice hiking trails....More

If you are visiting in the summer, it is way too hot for little kids even at 9:30 in the morning! We liked the upper falls area, though!

Totally beautiful area to visit and hike around. There are many different trail types to hike on, and enough information about each to help you decide which to travel. The senery is peaceful, and a few places have running water flowing past, with bridges to...More
