If it's in Texas, it must be bigger and better. That is the motto that architects followed with the Capitol Building in Austin. At one time, it was the tallest capitol building in the nation. Others might be taller now, but this is still a beautiful building that shows off many of the natural resources which are so prevalent in Texas, such as limestone and the landscapes.

Great stop while in Austin. The grounds are lovely to walk around and you can do a self guided tour of the grounds or capital inside. They also have a guided tour.

Really cool building! Guided tour was great. You are then able to tour almost the whole building on your own.

The architecture of this building is fascinating. The fact that in order to get more space, they dug underground creating a basement is remarkable. The staff here is friendly and knowledgeable. A must see if you're in Austin Texas.

This was an absolute delight to visit. The interior was magnificent, with historic artifacts of all types. The grounds were beautifully laid out and maintained, full of historic statues of all sorts.

Sorry Elizabeth, but I was in Dubai, UAE when you submitted the question. The #37 bus would have taken you from your location to 8th & Guadalupe. Only a few blocks from the Capitol.
