We went to the park twice during labor day weekend. Plenty of parking, beautiful sights. Lots of things to do. We did the Zilker Zephyr Mini Train ride and the family loved it. Tickets are super cheap.

I love this garden especially the oriental area. It has a great gift shop for you teachers out there. Also, enjoyed all the side gardens made the walking easy and interesting. It's free but you do pay for parking. :)

It's 7 miles from the Hill of Life (at the end) to Zilker park where the Barton Creek Greenbelt trail begins. It's 4 hours for an average hiker

Yes, you can fish at Lady Bird Lake. I Googled "fishing Zilker Park" and found government websites on how to do it.
