One hundred acres of wooded beauty, trees, flowers, and wildlife await your discovery at the East Texas Arboretum. The forest appears to come alive as you meander along two miles of woodland trails. Camouflaged frogs, insects, and even deer often scurry away as you pass. Make your way along winding, spring-fed streams connected by a 115-foot suspension bridge.

Experience life in early Henderson County at the historic Wofford House Museum. Built in 1850, the home was relocated to the Arboretum several years ago. It now stands as a reminder of early pioneer days complete with period furnishings, memorabilia, and a seasonal garden.

The Arboretum is available to host reunions, meetings, retreats, weddings, receptions, and picnics. Just imagine how beautiful a bride is when framed in the arbors of spring!

Come join us for a walk in the park!

We stopped at the East Texas Arboretum on our way through Athens TX on our way home to Fort Worth. Obviously in February the off season plantings are not yet up to full growth, still the planting beds are well laid out and starting to come alive, we will stop in again when spring is upon Texas. The historical items... More

The East Texas Arboretum and Botanical Garden is a great place to spend an hour or a good part of a day. With in-season roses, azaleas, and other flowering plants in spring/summer/fall one can wander the grounds at will and the small entry fee is reasonable. The hiking trails leading from the main site are average but enjoyable when mother... More

This arboretum is located in Athens Texas which to me is a very charming town . It cost $4 for adults and $3 for kids.. There is no parking fee. The place is excellent for the entire family. Small kids can have a great running around time while the adults can relax and admire nature. We visited on a Sunday... More

Gorgeous Beds of flowers, hiking paths, vintage buildings....the arboretum has it all! We brought visitors from L.A., and they couldn't believe a town the size of Athens had such an amazing attraction. Popular for weddings and prom pics!

Thank you for your review! Our guys work really hard keeping the grounds in tip top shape! Sometimes it is a bit overwhelming for two young guys, but they do their best. We do have volunteers that come and go, but could use them every day, if we had them! Come back to see us soon! Thanks again! More

I love coming here to just walk around and be in nature. It is kept very well clean and maintaind. There is also an old house to explore. It is only a few dollars to acess, and is more than worth it.

It was early this spring when I last walked through this wonderland of flowers. Many interesting items and hundreds of floral species to enjoy. Spend a few hours just enjoying nature, listen to the birds and lovely breezes. Many helpful things to learn.

Took a drive to Athens today to have lunch and visit the Arboretum. The cost is $4 for adult and you might need cash since there is a kiosk to leave your money. There is an office but I didn't go inside. It was sunny so I brought an umbrella. Leisurely stroll took me to see beautiful flowers and trees.... More

This is a lovely place. The entrance and area in the front of the park are landscaped, have pretty gardens and buildings. There is also a newish Veteran's Memorial honoring those who have served from the local area. There are walking trails that are heavily wooded and we have taken our dogs for great hikes many times. I have heard... More

Wonderful walking nature trails. They don't appear to get a lot of use so very lush with vegetation. If it has rained recently, prepare for mud. The gardens are well-maintained. Gorgeous flowers everywhere. Highly recommend!
