We stayed at the lodge at the top of the mountain. great view and impressive park. Was so interesting to see the Rio Grande River and how close to Mexico with no patrols or guards. Rock formations are beautiful. Was very hot and dry. Beware...More

We rode through Big Bend on Motorcycles in October and the scenery was breathtaking. Around every bend, the view was amazing. Rocks, Mountains and Cactus. The park was very clean and the roads were well maintained. This was our first trip to Big Bend but...More

Never expected mountains with clouds rolling off the top in Texas. Some beautiful scenic drives (and hikes for the more physically inclined.) 4 wheel drive is a must for the old Maverick road if it is open.

National Parks are my favorite places especially those as beautiful as Big Bend. We had some rain off and on but the clouds just added another dimension to God's amazing creation. The dark skies were somewhat hampered by the clouds but we still managed to...More

***IMPORTANT RECOMMENDATION*** I had never been here before. While still in Alpine, TX I found an App called "Just Ahead." Within the App are several "tours" that you can download for National Parks. Before leaving Alpine, I downloaded the Big Bend tour while still on...More

Well worth a visit to see some stunning landscapes and scenery. Without stating the obvious, it's certainly sensible to ensure you fill up with fuel before visiting the park, and also worth bring some snacks / picnic.

Big Bend National Park is full of beautiful areas. It does take a little to get there, so I do suggest staying in the park to have more time. Be sure to listen to warnings! During the summer it does get hot quickly. I loved...More

Great scenery. Be sure and drive down to Santa Elyana canyon. Make sure and fill up before you go as gas is HIGH in the park. If you have a passport be sure and bring it so you can cross the river.

Awesome part of the U S. Pictures do no justice. Make sure to drive all main roads for full effect. Must see.

Spend the morning there as early as you can when it's cool and much less crowded than the afternoon. Head to the centre, the Chisos basin and hike up any of the trails. Fabulous views and escape.

Definitely contact Panther Junction visitor center. When we visited last December we had 3 days at Bibe and wanted to do everything! The knowledgeable and courteous staff and volunteers helped us immensely.

Hi,I need ome help, please! We,my huband (and me ) will be in the US ,middle of November 2016. He will be attending a congres in San Antonio and we will be there for a week. Then we will rent a car and would like to do some sightseeing. We do love nature, are almost 70 years of age,and do have some, unfortunate, health issues. I do have SLE and he did have a knee replacement 4 weeks ago,but that will all be sorted out by November We also ,if possable, would not like to do more than 250-300 Km each day and we have app 10 days before coming home, also boarding in San Antonio, and overnight in San Antonio the night before returning home to South Africa. We thought of first going to the Big Bend Nat Park, then to up north to Amarillo, then back to San Antonio. We always try to keep away of the highways if possable Please,if you know the area, give us some pointers, where, what and how. Thank you so much. Izelle
