You don't need to head to England to experience the genius of a Shakespearean play. Much closer to home is the Oregon Shakespeare Festival located in Ashland, Oregon. Every year at the end of October you can enjoy on average over ten of Shakespeare's plays performed in both classic and newly imagined style. Separate tickets are needed for each show which is held at one of the event campus's two indoor or one outdoor spaces.

Under the stars or indoors, the plays both Shakespeare and contemporary rival any theater production in any venue in the US. Everyone must experience theater in Ashland once. Productions are available all year long so you could avoid summer crowds.

It was a treat to enjoy performances of both Shakespeare and contemporary drama. The acting is of such high quality. It is to the credit of OSF that they try new plays as well as the tried and true. It was wonderful to see high school students, both local and out-of-state in the audience. For them, as well as for... More

This year will mark 30 years that I have been attending the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. My daughter and I first attended 3 plays at OSF in 1988 when she was only 8 years old. We fell in love with the festival, the town of Ashland, and the entire ambiance of the experience. I was hooked and have returned every year... More

We came for the first time last year and fell in love with the town and the theatre company. Highly recommend getting a membership for the best seat selection and services. This is a must do.

We've attended the Festival for many years. We just enjoyed three more dynamite shows: "Julius Caesar", "Shakespeare in Love" & "Mojada: Medea in L. A." They were all beautifully staged and presented. Intense, energetic, emotional, funny at times, sad.....it covered them all for my wife & me. Costuming & sets were great: typical OSF. If you love theatre, put these... More

First no complaints against the production, the cast or all the hard work that went into this play. It was truly proffesional and entertaining. However the seating was the worst experience of our lives. It was so hot and uncomfortable that we nearly had to leave in the second act. I will never attend another indoor performance again, we just... More

The town is very beautiful and quaint with all that means. If you like Shakespeare or even just like plays. One of the best things about this is the area. Wineries, hiking, lake, rivers, mountains and more.

A great experience in one of the most charming cities in America. Going to Ashland for the festival is a whole experience. Cute hotels or bed and breakfasts. Great eateries and the shows themselves are fantastic. I recommend anyone who enjoys culture give it a try. Always a great spin on Shakespeare. We love it here

Ashland exists as a micronism of a liberal backwater, with a liberal pseudo intellect on every street corner or write-in to news media. However, the Shakespearean plays and presentations are top of the world class and should be visited by every student of all acting mediums. Don't miss these.
