Went to the Chuckery trail as part of our Metro Fall Spree and my friend pointed out the tree. I was in awe - I knew history says Indians were in this territory - but exciting to see a live relic of the past. The...More

No trip to the Rubber City is complete without a pilgrimage to the world famous Indian Signal Tree. My friends and I were awed by its majesty. We cannot explain why the IST is listed only as the 17th most interesting thing to do in...More

I love Ohio and have started exploring our state and discover so much history. This tree was formed by the Indians to mark the most Northeast point of what is called Portage Path. It is the path the Indians used to carry their canoes, for...More

Wasn't sure what we would find. Nice location and a pretty drive into the park. Just a few steps to see it and read the marker and there is a trail if you want to spend some time hiking there.

There were a lot of Native Americans living in and traveling through this area back in the day. They used signal trees to give them direction.

Such a cool piece of area history. The tree is fenced in and has benches all around. Very peaceful place to sit and reflect. It is also on the Chuckery trail which is one of my favorite trails to hike.

Close parking and a short peaceful walk. I visit my old friend every year for the past 40 years plus. I check to see how he/she is doing and we talk a little while I sit at the bench. Sometimes I walk a little further...More

This tree was used as a sign marker for the Erie Indians and other using the canoe trail leading from Lake Erie inland to other hunting and fishing ground. The Signal tree is a local landmark close to the Cuyahoga River running north and south.
