I could have done this tour on my own, at my own pace, and appreciated it more because the docent did not seem to be aware of the details that would have helped make this tour special. I guess these people are unpaid. However, if leading...More

I took a tour of Hower House last month in Akron, Ohio and was so pleased to find an immaculately preserved Second Empire Victorian home. It is very large, with three finished stories. It's apparent that much care has gone in to preserving and maintaining...More

This house is located right on campus, and if you're a student the current cost is 2$!!! You cannot beat that. The staff/tour guides were very friendly and welcoming and seem to really love volunteering there. This house is comparable to Stan Hywett, so if...More

Went here for an event at The University of Akron and it was very nice. It is a very old house and has beautiful woodwork and decor. It is nice for a cocktail hour event and right by campus.

The Hower House is one of the oldest house in Akron. Once owned by the Hower family, it is now the site of weddings, fund raisers and tours. The rooms are decorated in the same manner as they once were. History buffs will enjoy this.
