Well preserved and fascinating to visit. Each little room down below in the fort showed how life was in the nineteenth century. Just... More

Our family really enjoyed our visit to Ft Macon its a nicely preserved Ft with lots of artifacts, live shooting demo, replica barracks, Cannons & ammo supply storage, Mess hall, Soldiers living quarters/bunks, information on the working soldiers and how the fort worked. Would deffinately recommend a visit.

The Fort Macon State Park Fort is a great piece of NC and US history. The folks that work there are volunteers and they have a wealth of knowledge about all the happenings at the fort and area. It is free to tour the facility and it is well worth your time if you are into history and want to... More

My husband and I enjoy historical places and this one is very interesting. It is built into the ground on the beach. It is interesting seeing the views to the beach from the fort. There are various levels and do require walking.
